Error about parent virtual disk being modified w/o using differencing virtual disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am receiving this error in the Event Viewer, "The parent virtual hard disk appears to have been modified without using the differencing virtual hard disk located at "D:\VirtualMachines\Win2K3-Child1\Win2K3-Child1-Disk1.vhd". Modifying the parent virtual hard disk may result in data corruption. It is strongly recommended that you lock the parent virtual hard disk to prevent this in the future. If you recently changed time zones on your computer, you can safely continue using this virtual hard disk."

How can I fix this error? Thanks.

If I lock the parent virtual hard disk (by locking it, I mean right clicking on the .vhd file, selecting properties, and checking 'read-only'), then I am not able to turn on the parent virtual machine.
