How to set applications to install silently RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I boot my PC from a USB which holds the deployment share I have created with MDT. I start the wizard and choose the OS (Win 7) and the applications (Office 2010, Adobe reader etc).

The process starts, installs OS and when windows start all applications start installing simultaneously prompting for destination folders and choices for various options. Isn't there a way to automate this process?

Edit: For ex on Skype I type Skype.exe /? in cmd but doesn't return any switches so as to insert in MDT, it just starts running.

    Many thanks,

    Archie

  • U need to create applications with silent switches. Or extract an msi and use /qb! or /qn to install an application.

Or goodle "download skype msi" or "skype silent install" and run an msi.

    Like That!

  • The silent switch depends on the application, there is no general silent switch for all applications.

But if you want to install is silent you must find the silent switch, MDT will not magically find the silent switch.

ITNinja is a good site to search for help with silent installations:
