Does Branchcache support SQL Server 2008 R2? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Will requests to SQL Server 2008 R2 be cached if BranchCache is enabled on the server and the client?

Background - I'm looking to enable BranchCache for SharePoint - preferably for MOSS 2007 if that's possible, and I know BranchCache doesn't support WS2K3 so I'm only bothering with the database server, which is WS2K8R2.  Would it not work in this case because the client computer is connected to MOSS 2007/WS2K3, even though the data is coming from SQL on a BranchCache-enabled machine?  The client should look locally for the content regardless of the server it's connecting to, right?

Also, when we migrate to SP2010, is BranchCache enabled on the WFE?  Or the SQL Server?  I'm not finding any information on this.
