  • Hello everyone.These days upgrade RAM from 4GB to 8GB and  search the web to find information how to check RAM speed but i dont wanna install any  third-party software,so i find this "wmic memorychip".Thats what i did start>in search box i typing "wmic memorychip".When try it cmd pop up and disappeared in seconds,i search the web to find what happens and i find this:

    WMIC /output:"%computername%.txt" MEMORYCHIP where "memorytype=17" get Capacity

    Interactive mode:
    C:>START "Windows Management" WMIC
    wmic:root\cli>OS get csname

    I want to know if i do something to my system with that or there nothing to worry about and if i do something wrong how to fix it.Thanks in advance.

  • Go to start and RUN, from there type in "cmd" without quotes.  Now when you run "wmic memorychip" it won't flash it will stay open.  It might look like a garbled mess so you can grab titles so for specifically what your looking for you would type in :

    wmic memorychip get speed

    and that will just show the speed of your ram.  You can string these "get" commands to grab more details from your chips such as 

    wmic memorychip get "partnumber,speed"

    And that will show the partnumbers on your Ram plus the speeds.
