Outlook 2016: Outlook Locking Up when trying to add senders address to contacts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Afternoon,

I have an end user who received an email from an outside source and he is trying to add their contact information to his contacts list. He opens the email and selects "Add to Outlook Contacts" and when he does it just hangs and never does bring up the Add Contact Page.

Has anyone else every experienced this or any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Hi ,

    >> I have an end user who received an email from an outside source.
Do you mean you will have this problem when receiving emails from all the outside contacts? or some specific outside contacts? Do other colleagues have the same problem when adding this address?
To check if the problem is related to the Outlook client, please try exiting Outlook desktop client and see if the issue can be reproduced on the web mailbox.

    >> He opens the email and selects "Add to Outlook Contacts" and when he does it just hangs and never does bring up the Add Contact Page.
Have the contacts you need been added when Outlook resumes working?
If you choose New Contact in the Contact menu like below, can you get the pop up normally?

Please try the following suggestions to troubleshoot your problem:

    1. Do you use an Exchange account? If so, please open your Outlook in online mode and test to see if it makes any difference. ("File"> "Account Settings"> double-click your account> uncheck "Download email to Outlook data file using cached Exchange mode" > restart Outlook.)
    2. Did you add the outside contact to the Blocked Senders? Blocked Senders may also leads to this issue, please check via Home > Junk > Junk E-mail Options > Blocked Senders.
    3. A corrupted profile can lead this issue, so please try creating and using a new Outlook profile via Control Panel > Mail > Show profile and see if there is any difference.
    4. If the problem continues, please try to repair your Office.

    Hope this can be helpful.

    Regards,

    Jeff Yang
