Ability to disable mobile access for employees RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am in the process of choosing Skype for Business for my organization. But there is a requirement for me to restrict some users using Skype for business on their mobiles. That means they ONLY can use desktop client of Skype for business. If somebody can help on this it will be a great help for me.

    Thanks,

    Regs,

  • Sachitha,

You need to create a tag level Mobility Policy first and set the policy to disable Mobility and then assign this Mobility policy to those users whom you want to disable the Skype for Business Mobile access.

    How to achieve this ?

    • Create the Tag level Mobility policy, run the below command in Skype for Business front-end server's management shell for the same.
    New-CsMobilityPolicy -Identity DisableMobility -EnableMobility $False
    • Now you have the Mobility policy which is set to disable the Mobility access.
    • Now its time to assign this policy to those user whom you do not want to allow Skype for Business mobile access. Run the below command for each users (modify the identity accordingly).
    Grant-CsMobilityPolicy -Identity "sip:Sachitha@domain.com" -PolicyName "tag:DisableMobility"

  • Hi Sachi86,

Agree with Neeranjan, you could run the following command to create a user level mobility policy and turn off mobility:
    New-CsMobilityPolicy -Identity <policy name> -EnableMobility $False
Then assign the policy to those users whom you want to disable the function:
    Grant-CsMobilityPolicy -Identity <user identifier> -PolicyName <policy name>

You could refer to the following official document to find more details about Configuring mobility policy in Lync Server 2013, it is similar to SFB Server 2015:
