New Product Key Number RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

I just bought compaq note book that already has Microsoft Vista, and each time I try to use it asks for New Product Key Code. I have located this code (25 caracters) on the bottom of my laptop on Microsoft sticker, but each time I enter this code it says it is the wrong code. I keep trying but the computer will not accept the number I am using but it is definately the right one. This is becoming irritating and frustrating and I can't do my homework with out it so can someone please help me.

    Thanks.

  • In all honesty, you should talk to Compaq on that one.  You "just bought it", therefore, it's most likely their problem.

Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office.
If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft
Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a
license (product key) for Microsoft Office.

The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows Vista (the operating system)
    and not for Microsoft Office.

  • I am hoping that someone in tech land can help me. My computer this morning crashed. Luckliy, I reformatted it. Smile

However, I have misplaced the product key for my microsoft office student version. I bought the software last winter quarter over the internet and they emailed me the product key but after I installed it. I didn't think I would need it again. Can you help me? My email address is cat_salas@yahoo.com. I have tons of pharmacy tech home work to do and would love to get it all done before my 23 times of power point expire. Smile Sad

    Thanks,

    Cat
