Answers

  • when you imported the OS into the MDT console, did you import just the OS image, or the full sources?

If you are still having problems, please list out the OS versions, full source/wim file type, and ADK Version.

  • Hum... the MDT console will attempt to *match* the OS Version with the ADK/WAIK version if it finds a match, it will use the boot.wim file from the *full* OS Sources to build the WInPE image.

    Most likely you are using Windows 7 SP1 ( 6.1.7601.xxxxx ) and the WAIK 3.0 ( 6.1.7600.xxxxx ).

You might want to try the WAIK supplement to ensure that the WAIK version *matches* the OS version:

(Yes, the WAIK 3.1 installation is not an easy MSI installation).

  • take a look at this and does it relate to my problem

Windows PE 3.1 WINPE.WIM present in the Windows AIK folder and Windows 7 SP1 or Server 2008 R2 SP1 source files in the deployment share?  MDT will create a boot image from the Windows 7 SP1 BOOT.WIM and it will include Windows RE.

    • Any other combination?  MDT will create a boot image from the Windows AIK WINPE.WIM file and it won’t contain Windows RE.
