Hi,
I have different Site Collections and Different Web Applications on the same farm. I want to assign a specific search service to certain web application so that when I search in certain site collection it retrieve only results from the content sources under the certain search service and not all the existing content sources under all search services. Is it possible? and how to do so?

Hi Ehab,
For New webApplication
Create your new Service application
Under Application Management Group
Click on - Manage Service application - Create your new service application
After creating "Create your new application" to be consume your newly created application.
On your Service application connections Select the custom group of connection instead of by default group connection,
All the services will be listing out there including your newly created application service.
Select your service for your application. For editing the webApplication for certain service application
If you have already webapplication and wanted to assign the certain service application to it,then follow this steps
Click on Manage Application link in your Central Administration site->Click on specific webapplication->on "WebApplication Ribbon"
you can see the "Sevice Connection" button click on it. and choose the custom "Service group connection" and select your service.

Since this was posted in the Pre-SharePoint 2010 forums, I'm going to assume this is a SharePoint 2007 question, in which case you have the one SSP for the farm. You can still filter your results by assigning your different web applications to different content sources and you can create scopes for the various content sources that when selected, will only return results from that scope. Otherwise, please ask this in the proper forum.
