Memory Usage in Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not auper-savy with PCs so please be patient with me.

I've recently noticed that when my PC is idling, the RAM usage is about 34% whilst the CPU usage is only 4 to 8%. When I open Task Manager, nothing jumps out as being too resource-hungry. I also can't pinpoint when the memory usage increased. The PC is a quad core 2.8Ghz with 4Gb memory. By "idling" I mean I have no apps open except for Avast! AV and Comodo Firewall.

I use Sony Vegas a lot for video rendering which needs all the memory it can get, so if I can get the iding usage down I'd be grateful.

Any clues? Please feel free to ask for more info and many thanks in advance.
