Decom Process/Procedure of an Exchange 2007 Server that has CAS role only RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, Guys.

    Need your assistance on this.

Kindly let me know the process/procedure on how to decommission an Exchange 2007 server that has CAS role only? Are there any prerequisites/consideration that needs to be done first prior we proceed with the decom of Exchange 2007 server that has CAS role only? Any CAS services that need to be moved first to other Exchange node? Please advise.

    Thank you.

  • If its in a load balanced pool, remove it from that. Otherwise, nothing else really to do other the run setup and remove Exchange.

  • Hi, Andy.

What about any OWA/OAB services and/or Virtual directories? Do they need to be transferred to other Exchange node? There might be application/mail clients that are pointing to that CAS server about to be decom.

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

You don't need worry about VD. You can run below command to uninstall CAS server role:
    Setup.com /mode:uninstall /role:ClientAccess
