Add File to the Root Folder in App-V Client RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I am sequencing one application which requires "java.exe" should be available in the Root Folder ((i.e)C:\ Program Data\App-V\ pkg-id\ver id\Root\java.exe), I know that we can add the file by opening the application in sequencer through "Update mode". But i just want to add the file @ the App-V client in the above mentioned location. So that i can confirm and add it in the pkg later.

Here wen i try to add the file manually , Windows says "Access Denied".

So is it possible to modify the files in the above mentioned location or not? If so how?

  • You could give yourself permissions to the folder by becomming the owner and granting yourself permissions. If this is just for a once off test.

Or more likely you could just add the file to the regular file system as App-V's behavior is to check inside the virtual file system first, if it cannot find what it needs there it will look onto the local file system to find it
