Glitchy Nework

  • I have the following setup. 1 Windows 2011 SBE server (both DNS and DHCP roles are active), 17 client pcs (15 Win 7 and 2 win xp), and a dell sonicwall in place.

Multiple times a day, individual computers (when and which ones appear to be random) lose connection to the network drives and the internet. I can seem to remedy this by manually switching their ip addresses from automatic to a random one outside of the DHCP range. Then after a time (again random) these machines will lose connection again and I need to set them back to automatic ip settings.

Does anyone know why this is occurring? I've tried a number of things, from removing the dhcp role from the server and having the sonicwall act as dhcp instead to restarting network switches, but all things seem to not affect it.

I'm at a loss here, so any help at all would be much appreciated.

Also on client pc, i believe the corresponding error is as follows

Name resolution for the name servername timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
