  • Hi,

Windows update troubleshooter detects problems that may prevent you from keeping your computer up to date and repairs it.  After the Windows Update Troubleshooter is complete, your previous Windows Update history may be deleted.

Are you using 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Windows 8.1?

I suggest to refer the link to know about Windows Update Troubleshooter.

In addition, you could also check the Windows update in control panel to confirm if there are any pending updates.

  • The problem is when I use the (troubleshooter) "prior" to downloading/install updates, my PC's troubleshooter will "wipe" away even the "new" updates ready to install; that will require another (check for updates), that takes days to bring back for Windows Update availability.  My PC's "luck" to instill (view update history & update availability) after using the (troubleshooter), appears to be without a solution to stop the "wipe-away" behavior.
