Trying to open Project 98 or 2000 (not sure which) file using Project 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an older file I'm trying to open, which I don't believe to be corrupted, from newly installed MS Project 2013. I believe the original file was created either in MS Project 98 or 2000, not sure which.

When I attempt to open the file, nothing happens, no error message or anything, just no data.  Ideas?

(I am not an IT professional -  so please keep it basic!)

  • Paul,

Let's try this first and see if it helps.

First make sure your installation of Project 2013 is fully updated. To do that simply run Windows Update.

Once you are  sure Project is fully updated, go to File/Options/Trust Center group. Click on the "Trust Center Settings" on the right. Then click on Legacy Formats and select the option to "Allow loading files with legacy for non-default file formats". Now try to open your old file. Does that work?

If you still can't open it, are you willing to send me the file?

    John
