Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 not working with Core Isolation Memory Integrity RRS feed

    We've found an issue with using the Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 (and in fact other webcams too) in our Enterprise environment.  We are using Windows 10 Enterprise 1903 (currently build 18362.356) and, as recommended in the Microsoft Security Baseline Group Policy settings we have Core Isolation Memory Integrity (HVCI) turned on.

    However, when we connect a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000, it shows in Device Manager with error code 24:  This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed, and the device will not function.  This continues to be the case despite any of the following troubleshooting steps:

    - PC Restart

    - Disconnect and reconnect webcam

    - Update device drivers (Windows says the best drivers are installed)

    - Attempt to install latest drivers from Microsoft Accessories site (latest listed are for Win7, and Win10 will not allow the installation app to run)

    The only ways to get the webcam working are to either use the native Windows generic "USB Video Device" driver, which allows basic functionality but nothing else (our users want to be able to use all functions of their webcam) or to disable Core Isolation Memory Integrity - with this turned off the Webcam functions with no problems at all, but our Cyber Security team will not allow this to be disabled.

    So there appears to be a conflict between the LifeCam HD-3000 drivers and the Memory Integrity system, which is ironic seeing as both are Microsoft products.  We've seen the same problem with different models of Logitech webcams too, but we expected that Microsofts own accessories would work.  Clearly not...

    So my questions are:

    1.  Is it possible to get this webcam to fully work with Memory Integrity turned on - are there drivers that are actually certified to work in this situation?

    2.  If not, then are there any webcams from Microsoft or anyone else which are certified and known to work fully with Memory Integrity?  We know that laptops with built in webcams (Surface Laptop 2 and Dell XPS 13) seem to work fine, so is this just a problem with USB webcams?

    3.  Can Microsoft not fix their own drivers for their own devices so they work on their own operating system with their own security features turned on?  OK, this last one is pretty much rhetorical!

    I think you will have to disable Memory Integrity if you want the LifeCam to fully work. Also, I saw from the Internet that some Logitech webcams also have this situation.
