DPM 2019 and SQL 2017 RRS feed

  • Question

  • In a nutshell I can’t seem to get past these error messages. SSMS not installed (when it is) and “Failed to perform the check”

I have been fighting this installation for 3 days now with very little to show for it. I have a rather simple setup…

    SQL Server -Is VM

    MS server 2019 STD

    4cores

    32GB mem

    SQL 2017 STD

    No firewall

    Currently runs several DBs

    DPM -Is physical

    MS server 2019 STD

I have no other SQL option than 2017 as we purchased this with the understanding that it will work with DPM 2019. I have done the following

    1.            Attempted to install DPM, failed unable to connect to DB

    2.            Installed SQL prep tools

    3.            Attempted to install DPM, failed unable to connect to DB

    4.            Installed reporting service on SQL server

    5.            Configured it to use default DB

    6.            Set SQL services to use Domain service accounts

    7.            Attempted to install, was able to connect to SQL server, failed with

    a.            SQL Server Management tools are not installed on this machine. Please install SQL tools compatible with the installed SQL Server version

    b.            Failed to perform check. See the log

    8.            Someone online suggested that I install version 16.5.3, which I did

    9.            Attempted to install DPM, failed with same error

    10.          Removed SSMS 18.4

    11.          Attempted to install DPM, failed with same error

    12.          Removed 16.5.3, restarted

    13.          Attempted to install DPM, failed with same error

    14.          Reinstalled 16.5.3

    15.          Attempted to install DPM, failed with same error

    16.          Formatted server, installed 16.5.2

    17.          Attempted to install DPM, failed with same error

I have no clue what to do next. Here is my log
