Windows 7, Hard hang-->intelppm.sys

    Question

  • Hi Win 7 experts,
    i ran into a small problem with win 7 build 7057 yesterday and today again. whenever i rebooted, my sytem used to get hung while it said "shutting down". out of curiosity, i decided to use the crash on control scroll key to generate a manual crash. I got two sucessful crash dumps with a stack that looked like this.

  • Hi Satish.N

    I had a similar problem with windows 7 rc 7100. It crashed while it was shutting down. Do you remember if you had your Internet explorer opened or if you ordered your computer to shut down while it was transferring a file or while your windows was updating? Well in my case it crashed because I had almost 20 folders and 9 Internet pages opened.

  • Hi Satish,

    Are you able to repro the behavior with the RC, build 7100?

  • Windows 7 Build 7057 is not supported on this forum - only the official Beta (Build 7000) and RC (Build 7100) released to the public are. I'm glad to hear that this problem was fixed in Build 7100!
