Hardware Setup for SCCM 2012 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a best practice guide for hardware for SCCM 2012 R2 setup?  I have a R710 6 Bay Disk Drive I would like to put this on but my question is if I use RAID 1 will it be ok to have the OS, WSUS and SCCM/SCCM system files on different Hard Drives? or should I use RAID 5?  Trying to find document that states if its ok that these parts live on separate hard drives.  Thanks.

  • 1000 clients is a small implementation. A primary site can handle up to 100 000 clients.

I see no problem putting all roles on the same server, separate the DP on the long term if your organisation is growing.

Raid 1 for OS, Raid 5 for SQL and Content Library. Separate your DB,logs and TempDB to separate disk if possible for better performance.

I haven't seen all your network topology but this should fits most environment. If you have remote location, consider placing a DP if the network is slow or not reliable.
