moving to SQL HA environment issues

  • OK so begging for help out here.
I am not a SQL guy but I am working with one in my Org.

When we installed service manager. we had the SQL HA instance created DNSed and ready to go. when i was installing, we hit a roadblock where it couldn't connect because our cluster doesn't run with Named Pipes. (at least that was what the installer said) so we installed to the server\instance vs doing the "SQLHAinstance". for example, i did SQL04\helpdesk rather then xxcap-helpdesk.

so we have been working toward resolving this. i found the docs about how to move from one SQL server to another. in truth the SQL guy has been doing that. on the management server and data warehouse i have replaced ever entry i can find in the registry with the proper instance name. but every time I roll the SQL HA to a new node something crashes. right now, when i try to pull up a computer config item it pops up the load form but then tosses a .net error and crashes. same when i try to open an incident. the SQL guy thinks that something to do with the reporting stuff. anyone else have ideas?

  • We have done this kind of move.  In addition to the registry changes you need to prep and change the database with this procedure except line 17.

What is the exact .Net error?
