Skype for Business mobile user to external user communication issue. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

    I am facing some issue with my SFB mobile client.

    Please have a look at the current SFB architecture.

    1 SFB standard Edition Server, 1 Edge Server and Two Reverse Proxy Servers (ARR with windows NLB).

    Everything is working perfectly without any issue. But when an external user (desktop/laptop)is trying to send a message to external Mobile user, we are getting "The action couldn't be completed. Please try again later" error message in the chat window, but the external mobile user will receive the message successfully. Also, if the mobile user initiates the audio/video call, that will be disconnected within 10 seconds.

    But there is no issue if the external mobile user initiate a communication to external user (IM/Audio/Video, everything will work perfectly)

    Could anyone please suggest a solution for this.

    Regards,

    AJ

  • Here are some hints for troubleshooting.

    Looks like a problem with the AV/ Edge part. You could also run a trace on the Edge server to see what's happened.

    • Hi Holger,
    • Thanks for your reply.
    • I have tested the configuration -found two issues here.
    • 1. I am getting below error while testing from the remote connectivity analyzer."Testing HTTP authentication methods for URL https://lyncdiscover.<domain name>.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root/user.   HTTP authentication test failed.    Additional Details   An HTTP 403 forbidden response was received. The response appears to have come from Unknown. Body of the response " ,
    • 2. I am getting below error while running this (https://<internal web service url> /mcx/mcxservice.svc)from LAN network "401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials." .Apart from this everything is fine.

  • Hi Alias Jacky,

    Welcome to post in our forum.

    Would you please tell us if the issue only appeared on the specific the mobile device ?

    If this issue only appeared on the specific device, you could try to reinstall the mobile client with the latest update and test again, at the same time, make sure your SFB server side with the latest update.

    About HTTP 403 forbidden error, please verify your DNS & Certificate entries, you should make sure the external web service FQDNs of FE server are in the external DNS records and Certificates, also make sure both of them are included in the publishing rule.

  • Could you look at the logs of the IIS on the FE?

    If the log shows 403/404 errors for your access, something is broken with your web services. If the Deployment wizard not helps,only way will be to reinstall the web services. You should backup everything before, because if you uninstall the web component an uninstall the IIS and reinstall both, sometimes it is not working and you have to reinstall the complete SFB software on this server.

  • Your right. I also not sure that it is a webservice issue, because the mobile client can login.

    Have you run the clslogging for FE and edge to see what's happened if someone sends IM to the mobile and also for the voice call?

  • Hi Holger,

    I am getting below given error from local machine(External SFB Client) when trying to IM the mobile user.

    "ms-diagnostics: 1022;reason="Cannot process routing destination";destination="sip:SFB-TestUser01@domain.com;opaque=user:epid:RnYcvqsvslajHpsBXzSDKQAA;gruu;received=X.X.X.X;ms-received-port=5061;ms-received-cid=CA101";source="sip.domain.com"".

    sip:SFB-TestUser01@domain.com--> Mobile User.

    received=X.X.X.X--> FE Server IP

    sip.domain.com--> Access Edge Domain.

    Thanks for your response.

    For the error 1022 from the local machine, please make sure service applications are registered to the topology.

  • Hi Alice,

    Sorry for the late reply. I was busy with some other activities.

    Yes Default routing is True. But still no luck.

    Is it a technical limitation with Skype for Business?

    AJ

  • Hello Alias,

    Can you check the IIS logs and see if  you see any errors showing up there , also the event viewer logs stating that there is some issues , did you try restarting the iss service/server and then check.  Also make sure that the Lync is updated with all the latest patches.

  • Hi Akampa,

    There is no logs related to this issue , in IIS/Event Viewer. SFB Servers had been updated with June 2016 CU.
