DPM 2010 RTM Eval to DPM 2010 FULL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All.

I'm just starting an upgrade to DPM2010.  Currently running DPM 2010 RTM Eval.

Once i fire up the setup all the pre-reqs run through fine. its jsut after setting the password for local dpm acct - and sql starts.  IT stops with an error.

The SQL Server 2008 installation failed. Review the SQL Server installation log file for failures, and then take the appropriate action.

    ID: 4310. Details: Unspecified error

My Error Log is attached - i see that its crapping out @ - "the patch file cannot be opened. The file is: P:\dpm2010RTM\SQLSVR2008\PCU\x64\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\sql_engine_core_inst.msp."

P:\ is local.  I've downloaded the installation twice from MSDN to retry - incase it was corrupted.

  • Hi,

We have not had any other reports of this, however to see if it is media corruption, try to install DPM 2010 on a separate machine (maybe use Virtual Machine) and it the install is successful.  If so, we can rule out the media and look at it being a problem on the server trying to be upgraded.   If that too fails, then try downloading the media again from a different server and possibly from a different network location (like from home) and see if that resolves the issue.
