Third Party Technical Help RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a third party technical protocol.  My computer was locked up after I went to a porn website.  I had to call a number and pay some vendor to restore it.  Was this a scam?

  • It is RASOMWARE and targeting people visiting porn sites is their biggest business.

It is a SCAM, but not like other ones.

  • Yes, that is a scam.  NOTE!!!  IF you let that vendor connect to your computer or you downloaded anything from the vendor, it is probable that they planted malware.  You should check thoroughly.  You should scan with your antivirus program and I recommend also running the 2 programs below.

    AdwCleaner
    https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

When downloading and installing this be sure to get the free version. Say No
to any free trial offers or automatic updating during setup to keep the free version functional.
    Malwarebytes

  • Hi,

Yes, it is a SCAM! Please DO NOT believe it!

Please take a full scan and check the result.

You can also try system restore.

    Best Regards,

    Tao
