Window Operating System, Microsoft Windows Diagnostic Performance, ID 100 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have encountered a problem when I tried to backup.  The screen appeared as follows:

Windows backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up.  Please check in the event logs for any relevant erros.

Details the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Does that mean my external hard drive has problem?  I try to re-load Winodw 7 and the DVD companion and it still doesnt work.  When you into my computer to do with either Word or Exccel, it just froze up.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Am in the middle of a hugh report to be sent out but presently not able to do anything because the computer constantly frozen.

  • try chkdsk E: /r /f (replace E with your external HDD). Microsoft Windows Diagnostic Performance, ID 100 = slow booting.
