Unable to download Windows Updates. RRS feed

  • Hello All, 

    I am seeing a very strange issue and hope that someone could assist.

    The attached error is seen when clicking the "Check for updates" on the server.  We have tried stopping the Windows update service and reset the Software Distribution folder in Windows and restart the Windows Update Service.  It does not help.  

    The server has no issue going to bing.com but it has problem going to google.com.  I open up the CMD prompt and I am able to ping google.com thou.  

    In checking the Windows Update log, I am see the below.  I open up IE and I am not able to download the http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/others/2013/12/10258438_f68ad07e87c32aeb283d5539ea315cfdd48dcf89.cab file as well. 

    The server's DNS configuration has the IP of the internal DNS server which has a forwarder to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1.  

    Please advise if someone has an idea of how to troubleshoot this.

    You could try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter to see if it helps.

    I could download the cab files from the link mentioned in your log. I think you need to troubleshoot why you cannot download it in your environment.
     
    Check if there are some firewall rules preventing the download. And I suggest to check the connectivity to Windows Update. Could you able to ping download.windowsupdate.com? Also check the DNS, router etc.
