Copy a steadystate user? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there an easy way to duplicate a user instead of creating a new one? I just need to clone one of my existing accounts but change the time limit.

Also is there a way to give the user a warning 3 mins before auto log off?

  • You can copy the user profile through the steady state console, however it will not copy desktop settings (icons, background, printer, etc.)  What it should copy is all the Steady State Settings for that user, time limits, Steady State Security Settings, Internet Settings, etc.  I found its easier just to make a new account, and I know that is probably what you didn't want to hear.

We ran up against the warning issue as well, as far as I know there is no way to warn the user before Auto-Log off, the trade off was to have the timer always on option checked.  The downside to this is (I am not sure if the newer version does it), that the timer can not be moved from its location.
