MS Project Professional 2016 will not open blobs stored in Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using MS Project Professional 2016 subscribed from O365 portal,  our files are up in Azure Blobs.

When opening .mpp files(Project 2007) we receive spinning blue circle, and Project "Not Responding". This forces a hard reboot (Long Press Power button). This occurs on a variety of devices (Lenovo Laptop, Dell Laptop MS Surface pro). All are running Windows 10.). After the reboot, the .mpp is 0KB and cannot be opened.

If we copy the file to the local c:drive, Project opens the files in "compatibility mode", we are le to save the file as .mpp ( Project 2016). If we copy back up to Azure, we are able to open the file once, and the next time we get the Hard reboot/0KB issue.

Word and Excel files open correctly.

Spoke with O365/Project support, who indicated that it appeared to be related to Azure.

Azure Support Chat asked me to submit this question to get the troubleshooting and recommendations captured.

    Any help is appreciated.
