Where do I edit MX Records RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where do I change the MX records if Im running an exchange server?

Any information is helpful, I have little experience with DNS and stuff.  Would it be on the server or on the website where I purchased the domain?

  • Hi,

It would be in the DNS hosted by your external DNS provider. That could be the website where you bought the domain.

  • MX records for sending email to your domain from the Internet are part of your domain's public DNS records.  Often these are managed by the domain registrar from which you purchased your domain, although that is not guaranteed.  Look up the WHOIS record for your domain with your registrar to see the settings for the authoritative DNS servers for your domain, then contact the company that maintains those authoritative DNS servers.
