does windows 7 x64 installer auto detect x64 apps and put them into program files, and x86 apps into program files (x86) folders? RRS feed

    I have been installing some application on my windows 7 x64 and notice there are 2 folders: program files and program files (x86).  Does this mean windows 7 installer automatically detect and put application into the appropriate folder by default? should I alter the installation folder when asked by the application?

    Win7 will put the program into the applicable 32 or 64 bit folder automatically. No need to change the installation folder.
