Problems installing DPM 2012 R2 Cumulative Rollup 8 on Server 2008 R2 64bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having issues getting the new DPM Roll-up 8 (DataProtectionManager2012R2-KB3086084) to successfully install on our DPM Server.

We are using Windows Server 2008 R2 - 64bit with DPM Server 2012 R2 (4.2.1338.0)- The same server also had difficulties installing Roll-up 7 which MS helped me fix - part of this is documented here

The CU8 update is normally installed by SCCM which is returning an error. So I also tried it manually which failed. I also tried to manually update it via a clean boot with no success. I'm thinking the error might be because of the following lines in the log:

    C:\Users\domainadminusera\AppData\Local\Temp\DPM5D2C.tmp\DPM2012\msi\msdpm.msi 3: -2147287037
MSI (s) (E4:88) [12:37:26:249]: SOURCEMGMT: Source is invalid due to missing/inaccessible package.

MSI (s) (E4:88) [12:37:26:265]: SOURCEMGMT: Source is invalid due to missing/inaccessible package.

If anyone can help point to a fix it would be appreciated

  • Didn't get any response on here, so I logged the call with MS.

Apparently the Cumulative Updates require the temp folders of the previous install to work, so CU8 was looking for files from CU7 which had been deleted for some reason.

MS restored these from the cab files of CU7 and put them in the correct directory which allowed the update to work and fixed my issue. Hope this helps anyone else who comes across this problem

  • Hi,

Can i ask where you got the rollup 8 from? I received it on one of my servers from windows updates but it does not show up on another.

The direct download link from MS is dead as well. This is for 2012 R2 DPM.

    Thanks.

  • I got it here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086084, but you have to add the download to your basket in the catalogue and then check out
