  • Question

  • I would like to have my image captions read like this:

    Figure 1.1-2 Image Name

I would like the "1.1" to be set automatically, from Word knowing that is located in section 1.1 of the document. I would like the "2" to be automatically incremented, starting at 1, for each image in the section.

So I'd end up with images named

    Figure 1.1-1 Image Name1

    Figure 1.1-2 Image Name2

    Figure 1.2-1 Image Name3

    Figure 1.2-2 Image Name4

    Figure 1.2-3 Image Name5

    Figure 2.1-1 Image Name6

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi,

    See the picture below:

Go to Multilevel List ->Define New Multilevel List -> go to Level 3

Then set the settings like the picture show.

    1. Enter “Figure” first in the Enter Formatting for number:
    2. Then choose level 1 in the Include level number from: list box.
    3. Then go back to the Enter Formatting for number: textbox, type in “.” behind “1”
    4. Then choose level 2 in the Include level number from: list box.
    5. Then go back to the Enter Formatting for number: textbox, type in a space and “-”
    6. Then choose 1,2,3,… in the Number style for this level listbox.

But as for level 1 and level 2, you must set the Number style for this level as 1,2,3,…

  • In the Caption Numbering dialog box, click Numbering. Select “Include chapter number” and select “Heading 2.”
