Unable to change the sender email address of the outgoing emails RRS feed

  • Question

  • In SharePoint 2013 Farm, we are unable to change the sender email address of the outgoing emails.

What could be the reason ? Is it because of the previous email queues ?

  • Hi ghsajith,

What happened after you change the From address via the Configure outgoing e-mail settings?

Cannot save your change in the Configure outgoing e-mail settings, or emails which are newly received still come from the old email address?

If the former, is there any error message? Or use PowerShell command provided by sharath to change and check again.

If the later, what’s the operation which you want to get the email from the new address?

Besides, check if the issue occurred on all web applications, go to manage web applications->General settings->outgoing e-mails settings, check if the From address section is changed.

    Best regards,

  • Hi ghsajith,

Use the below PowerShell script to set the Outgoing E-mail Address"

    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell -ErrorAction SilentlyContinu

    #Define Outgoing E-mail settings
    $outboundServer = 'g1exchangehub.crescent.org'
    $FromAddress = 'Teamsites@crescent.org'
    $ReplyAddress = 'SharePointSupport@crescent.org'
    $Charset = 65001

    #Get Central Administrtion Web site
    $WebApp = Get-SPWebApplication -IncludeCentralAdministration | Where { $_.IsAdministrationWebApplication }

    #Apply the Settings
    $WebApp.UpdateMailSettings($outboundServer, $FromAddress, $ReplyAddress, $Charset)

  • Emails which are newly received still come from the old email address.

For the Web Application (Port 80), it was not changed. After referring the below  link, the issue sorted out.
