Backup crashes DPMRA agent RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

currently a backup of one of my CSV crashes the DPMRA agent and would like some pointers what could be the issue.

I am backing up a CSV (located in a 2012R2 cluster) using DPM 2012R2.
The cluster has 2 CSV: One can be backed up without issue, but the other one causes the DPMRA service to crash.

    I tried:

    • Consistency check
    • Removing the drive from the protection group and re-adding it
    • Restarting the server nodes of the cluster

None of these steps solved the issue.

I would very much appreciate some suggestions as to what could be causing the issue.

    Thanks in advance
    Paul

  • Hi,

As per the below TechNet article, DPM does not support protecting any data on cluster CSV except Hyper-V Virtual machine workloads.

Supported and unsupported scenarios in DPM

    Data on CSVs

Issue: DPM only supports the protection of Hyper-V virtual machines on Cluster Shared Volumes (CSVs). Protecting other workloads hosted on CSVs isn’t supported.

  • Hello,

    thanks you for your reply.

I spoke with my colleague and the setup is not a CSV, it is a FileServer-Cluster with a shared vhdx.

I will post the issue in the forum "Data Protection Manager - File Protection".

    Regards
    Paul
