Project 2010 - Project UNC path mismatch RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

At our customer, they work in Project 2010 on the same projects, but from different locations.
They save the project files on a share on the local server, which is mirrored/synced with a server at another location, but with the same share name.

    In other words:

User1 on location1 saves the project on X:\folder

User2 on location2 opens the project on X:\folder, but now he opens the project which is saved on location1, because Project uses the UNC path.

The X:\ Drives are mapped to 2 different servers, eg. location1 server DC1 and location2 DC2, and the drives are synchronized with Peerlink.

I'm not sure if i have explained myself to a level of understanding - please let me know is I should clarify!

Is there any way to have Project save with path X:\folder instead of UNC path \\dc1\folder?

  • Hi Lassen_Nyit,

So when user2 navigates to x:\folder in windows explorer do they see the project file?  I assume "yes".  If so, what error message are they seeing when they attempt to open the project.
