Sharepoint 2007 and Outlook 2007 integration RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have no experience with Sharepoint as of yesterday so here goes.

I was given a site for test purposes and because they ( the web team ) can't get the calendar piece to connect to outlook. I too have tried and nothing happens when we try this except for an outlook error in the application log. The operation failed. No pst file is created. The only thing I can see is when SP has the pop up stating Connect this share point calendar to Outlook. Then after we say yes, nothing happens.

There are no restrictions on the cllients from creating pst files.

    I am running Outlook 2007.

Looking for places to search. Server as well because I did not build this thing.

  • You are possibly not looking in the right place.

When you connect a SharePoint calendar to Outlook, an additional calendar entry is created in Outlook.

In other words you have the standard Outlook calendar and a completely different calendar which is a copy of the calendar included in a SharePoint site. That second calendar listing is then synchronizable with the SP list calendar. The original Outlook calendar can only be amended within Outlook.

(If you have several lists you can create several additional calendar entries in Outlook).

Moderator Hat on: I'm moving this to the Admin forum.

  • I had watch a demonstration on the calendar feature and from what the demo had shown, there would be another folder ( the sharepoint folder ) with the information. I search all my folders and any pst files I have. Nothing appeared, the only thing that happens is the error in the event log.

Could the person who set this up have missed something on the server?
