  • hi all

while running windows update on a Windows 2008 R2 machine, a patch was stuck during installation phase. i logged off and on, packages were corrupted and roles in server manager could not be refreshed. I run Windows6.1-KB947821-v10-x64 (SUR tool) which fixed the problems and now the server manager can have the roles refreshed.

The log file of SUR tool displays the following:

    Checking Windows Servicing Packages

    Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs
    (f) CBS MUM Corrupt 0x00000000 servicing\Packages\Package_for_KB2207559_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum  Expected file name Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385.mum does not match the actual file name

     Fixed 1 errors
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 1
Fixed: CBS MUM Corrupt.  Total count: 1
Fixed: CBS Paired File.  Total count: 1

What do I do now ? Do i extract the files of KB2207559 in %systemroot%\servicing\packages or do i proceed with the installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 service pack 1 ?

Note that KB2207559 and Windows server SP1 are both available in the list when i run Windows Update

    thanks and regards

  • Hi Nicholas,

The error was fixed by running the SURT. The KB2207559 is installed. You can check it in Windows Update history. Then if you want to upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, you need to install Service Pack 1.
