  • Hi ,

Can you be more specific about Dedup feature?
Did you mean Enable-DedupVolume as mentioned in this link.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/powershell/windows/deduplication/enable-dedupvolume
If so, we could refer to the following link to enable deduplication on Windows 10.
    http://myitworld.azurewebsites.net/2016/10/14/enable-deduplication-windows-10/
Or, we could try to go back to previous version of Windows. Based on your description, this issue occurred after you upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday. As far as I know,  if your PC is running Windows 10 Version 1607 or later, you have 10 days to go back. Go to Settings > Update & security > Recovery to start.

If all above methods don’t work for you, this link may give your some hint.

  • Hi ,

    What did you mean dedup?
    Did you mean Enable-DedupVolume?

If so, follow steps in the following link to re-enable DedupVolume again, check if it helps.

  • DEar

who says its not supported on windows 10 microsoft technets says the cmdlets of dedup can be applicable on windows 10.

    https://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/hh848441.aspx

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/1056868

this statement of not enabling dedup was also given by the microsoft support person i also shown him the same article the thing is awareness but till my observation no one even technet which is the biggest blog of microsoft is failed to solve my issue...

  • Ok, that is ambiguous to me to as the information crosses both Server 2016 and Windows 10 but not clear what is just for what.

The PowerShell commands are not available for Windows 10 for me, Enable-DedupVolume gives cmdlet not found. The external link Rick_Li for enabling dedupe in Windows 10 is version specific by a third-party. No corresponding modules for 15063 as there is not a Server 2016 on that version.

So how did you enable dedupe in Windows 10?

  • Dude you have to install some update packages...
    Monday, May 1, 2017 10:35 PM
  • Ok but I cannot see a MS site or a way in Windows to do that.

Anyway not helping this issue. So to me you need to revert to the previous version of Windows whilst you still have time and then undupe the drive, or mount the drive in a Server 2016 and recover the files, or mount the driver in a Windows 10 1607 with dedupe enabled and again recover the files. Alternatively if you have a backup of the files then recover then from backup.
