App-V 5.0 Shortcut Icon wrong RRS feed

  • Question

  • App-V 5.0

    Sequenced SAP GUI

    I deployed it to a workstation and Shortcut on desktop does not have the proper icon.  (it has the default no icon).

    Looking in the config files of the sequence.

            <Extension Category="AppV.Shortcut">
                <File>[{Common Desktop}]\SAP Logon.lnk</File>
                <Arguments />

    The Problem is that the line should be <Icon>[{AppVPackageRoot}]\FrontEnd\sapgui\saplogon.exe</Icon>

    Why is the seqencer changing it?

    Why when I change the xml files it does not change on the workstation?

  • Hello,

    You need to deploy the xml-file, have you done that?

  • I have deleted the package off of the appV server and republished it to the desktop.  Is the xml file used with a AppV server (or only the .appv file)?

  • Hello,

    The App-V Management server will never read any XML file unless you tell it to.

    See this information on howto implement the user-configuration;

  • that took a little work but exporting the configuration, changing the xml and importing the xml fix my icons.  Thank you.

  • I had the same problem and doing the troubleshooting, resolved as follows.

    Open the package in the sequencer and select the upgrade option, point to the package from SAP. Do not select any application for installation.
    Make a copy of the file saplogon.exe and rename itto saplogon.ico. Go back to the sequencer and finish the installation guide where you edit the shortcut, select the SAP Logon click the right button and then edit. Point to the icon saplogon.ico and ready file.

    Save and then check that the UserConfig.xml and DeploymentConfig.xml is so [{AppVPackageRoot}]\SAP\....\ saplogon.ico
