I'll post new traces tomorrow.

The network connection manager causes the CPU usage (netman.dll!CLanConnection::GetProperties). Are the network connection settings (IP, DNS/DHCP) ok?

I'm not sure, but they seem fine. I think everything is in its default settings. My computer is a bit old (Dell Studio 1735), but for sure i have newest drivers for lan and bluetooth available for Windows 8 installed. I haven't checked yet if wlan drivers are the newest ones available. I use DHCP everywhere I go. The problem is present when I'm connected by cable, now when I use wifi, and also when im not connected to any of them. Any ideas how to investigate it further?Saturday, January 12, 2013 10:34 PM

try to avoid DHCP and set the IP addresses manually. Does this help?

OK, I tried a few thigs but any of them helped: switch to static IP, turned off wifi card in windows devices manager(i've just read it's unsupported in win8, but it magically works), turned it off phisicly(switch on side of laptop), disconected all network shares, turned off dropbox, turned off ipv6 for my wifi. Again no more ideas. This netman doesn't have some log file? Maybe its telling whats wrong and I just don't know where to look?

Hi,
I suggest to use Process Explorer and KernRate to troubleshoot the high usage of CPU.
Detail steps you can refer this blog:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2008/04/07/3031251.aspx
It could help you to determine which device or driver cause the issue.

@Vegan Fanatic: Originally computer came with Vista. But it worked fine with Windows 7 for a long time, so I thought Windows 8 shouldn't be a problem. I hope that downgrading won't be necessary :)
@Leo: KernRate won't work in my Win8 64bit. Maybe you could get some info from etl files that i have posted?

After a while, I think that this list is very incomplete: for example it doesn't include my G-Data Antyvir, or Adobe Lightroom and many more installed...

Surprisingly for me, uninstalling G-Data helped. No more regular cpu spikes :) But now I'm without antivirus protection ;) Thanks anyway! The problem was very frustrating.Tuesday, January 15, 2013 8:44 PM

try to install only the core AV components and not all the firewall and addons. Maybe this helps. If not contact the G-Data support and explain them the issue and send them the ETL files.
Until you get an updated version use the in Win8 included Defender.

I had the same problem with Windows 8 Pro, for the first few weeks all is well, then the cpu went to 95-97% even no major programs are running, I tried stopping various services and it dropped below 30% when I stopped Bluetooth services.
Reboot with the Bluetooth disabled, now back to normal, as long I do not activate Bluetooth.

The user already fixed it by removing G-Data.
