Context Menu Not visible after sequencing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have sequenced Notepad++ application. Everything is working fine but I am not able to see the context menu icon.

Do we need to do any additional steps for handling this?

  • what version of APP-V sequencer you used?

If it is earlier versions like APP-V 4.6, then we need to handle context menu separately.

Some registries will be responsible for the context menu handlers. for example say HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers , Capture these settings separately and create a VBScript, Batch file to add these registries and handle it in the OSD file under SCRIPTS section.

Follow the link to edit OSD Scripts section.

If it is APP-V 5.0 SP1 or earlier , then add the VBS or powershell in the scripts tab in the sequencer UI and edit the deploymentconfig.xml file to run this script.

But I believe APP-V 5.0 SP3 is supporting context menu handlers automatically. No additional steps needed.

  • Which version of AppV are you using?

AppV 4.x do not support Shell Extensions.

But, Aaron Parker have wrote a nice blog on how to achieve this. I'm not sure if Microsoft has fixed this in the latest SP or HF. But, I've used AppV 4.6 SP1 & at that moment Shell Extensions are not supported.

If you are using, AppV 5.0 with Service Pack 2 then Shell Extensions will be supported.
