DPM Storage Pool RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am using DPM 2012. I have not enough Disk or separate disc to allocate storage pool for DPM. I have NAS drive and a free partition space on same disc where DPM installed.

Is there any way to create storage pool for my scenario.

  • Hi,

for storage pool you can't use partitions, only disks. iscsi disks are also supported.

in a test environment you can create a VHD and attach them with the disk manager.

  • Hi Denny,

    Thanks for your reply.

    How can I do this?

create VHD on the same machine where DPM has installed.?

  • Hi,

user the Computer-Management and navigate to disk management. on the action pane klick more action and then create vhd. you can save that on the same machine.

use this only for a test environment and after server reboot you have re-attach the disk.

  • Hello Jonh,

You can quickly set up a iSCSI target from available space in either data platform by adding the corresponding role in windows server 2012 or configure it in windows server 2008 R2 with Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3.

  • OK, then you can only use iSCSI. If your nas support iSCSI use it or install File And Storage Services and Select File and iSCSI services.
