Sharepoint 2013 SQL 2012 Edition Downgrade from Enterprise to Standard

    Question

  • Hi All,

We have Sharepoint 2013 with SQL 2012 Enterprise edition, We are not using Enterprise edition feature in our Sharepoint 2013 site. So, we planned to downgrade it from Enterprise to Standard edition. Is it possible to downgrade it without affecting the Sharepoint site.  Please help.

  • Hi,

So maybe this could work out:

    Possible workaround:

SharePoint 2013 has a configuration option called "licensing". You can enable and disable license-depended features for a group of users.

    HowTo:

    • Enable licensing via PowerShell.
    • Assign Standard-Licenses to all of your users (for example "Domain Users" group in ActiveDirectory).
    • Do not assign an Enterprise-License.

But I would test that on some non-prod environment..

  • HI Mani,

If you already install SharePoint using enterprise key then you can't go back to standard

You have install SharePoint using standard key.

For rolling back sql it is quite tricky i suggest not to do it because you have uninstall and install the SQL server again  still you want to downgrade below URL explain it how to
