Custom RCDC RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an requiremnet as follows:-

There are two types of users

    • Company User
    • Franchise user

    Company user have following roles:-

    • Super Admin
    • Admin
    • User

    Franchise user have following roles:-

    • Admin
    • User

I want a custom RCDC to create a new user. Now if I am selecting the company user then their corresponding roles(superadmin, admin, user) should be displayed and if I am selecting franchise user then their corresponding roles (admin, user) should be displayed.

If this is not possible in RCDC can anybody please suggest any other solution. Waiting for a quick and helpful reply.

    Thanks,

  • It is simple - it can't be achieved in this way as you expect it with standard RCDC. You have two options here:

    - Always present the same list of roles and then validate it in authorization workflow, which probably will cause some unpleasant comments from your users

    - Go with an option of custom UI extension for FIM.

There is also a third option like create two separate attributes to hold a role for company user or external user and populate these lists respectively for these attributes. However it won't help you as during the creation of a user you don't have a data to which you can bind visible flag of these controls and thus hide it or show it.  You can do this if you will be editing user and then show \ hide specific attribute based on the flag. But I don't like this solution and I would not recommend you to go this path anyway

But there is also third way - think about using BHOld for it and assign user a role after user was created. However if this is only choice you have to make it might be a bit of overkill.
