Adding users to pool Export-CsUserData VS Update-CsUserData RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am adding users from Lync2013.pool1 to SFB2015.pool1. There are already existent users in SFB2015.pool with domain SFB2015.domain.com and I need to add the Lync2013 users with domain Lync2013.domain.com, my question is, when importing users from Lync2013.pool1 to target pool SFB2015.pool1 using Export-CsUserData will the users in SFB2015.pool1 be affected in any way, overwritten or deleted? Is this type of scenario would it be better to use cmdlet Update-Cs-UserData?

    Thanks

  • Hi Norec.L,

According to your description, you want to move users from Lync server 2013 to SFB 2015, when you using the command line “Export-CsUserData”, it won’t affect the users which have been in SFB 2015 already.
For “Update-CsUserData”, this enables administrators to update user data for a specified user or set of users, this updating is typically done in order to restore lost data to a logged-on user, so “Export-CsUserData” is the better choice.

The following article indicates the detailed information about “Export-CsUserData” and “Update-CsUserData”
