SKYPE business server or online plan 2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I want to integrate Skype into my website.

Please advise if I need to purchase Skype business server 2015 or Skype online plan 2.

Should I be getting API to embed in both the cases?

Thanks for helping ASAP. It is really urgent

    Regards

  • The APIs are a bit more developed for on-premises still, but I would suggest it's not the way to go.  There are public previews for the cloud, but they're not fully available yet: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/trusted-application-api/docs/overview?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

So, if you need it now, then Skype for Business On-Premises will get you what you need without being a roadblock.  If you're planning for the future, I'd start seeing if what's offered online is enough: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/websdk/docs/developwebsdkappsforsfbonline?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 and start reading up on the Graph APIs.

If Online ends up being an option based on your development needs, then that is the ultimate answer, but try to use general frameworks and consider integrating into Teams instead.
