IE login dialogue box RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we have some users that need to access a site that prompts them to login when they connect to it. Internet Explorer fails to display the login dialogue box and just presents an Access Denied message. Is there a particular GPO setting that we need to enable to display the login dialogue box? Any help woul dbe much appreciated as we have had to install Chrome as a work-around.

    TIA - Derrick

  • which version of Windows?

    which version of Internet Explorer?

are the computers, members of an AD domain?

is the URL/site, on your Intranet?

is there a proxy of any kind, or a proxy configuration applied, involved in the communication path/route, between the computer and the URL/site?

are you placing the URL/site, into compatibility-view mode, or, into Trusted Sites zone?

you may need to examine the http packets of the conversation between the client computer and the webserver - is this possible?

it sounds like it may be an authentication/negotiation failure. has this ever worked for you in the past?
