Office 365 Default Domain Auto Aliasing. RRS feed

  • Question

  • An administrator uses Office 365 cloud only.

    Had domain A = domain.com and domain B = archive.domain.com.

Domain A is the default domain.

When creating a shared mailbox on domain B, it is given an alias of domain A (as expected).

When you remove the alias from the EAC, it works fine.

When you remove it in powershell, it removes properly, (set-mailbox -identity shared -emailaddress SMTP:shared@domainB.com) but then the auto-aliasing runs and it is added back in less than a second.

Is there a way to remove the alias in powershell, and not have it auto-alias the default domain back?
