Reference Imaging Versioning RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey can someone help me out here.  I have been charged with "versioning" our reference image.  The problem is I don't know how to do this from MDT.  Ideally what I would like to do is the following:

    I have the following info

    Task Sequence ID is 7X64813

    Date is 6-13-2014

    I want to set a Reference Image Version variable  "RIV"

    So Here is what I want-

    Whenever a user goes to his or her workstation and does a set this will appear

    RIV=7X64813.14.6.13

    Can anyone help me Please?

    Thanks

  • oh for anyone that wants to know about  the naming convention

    7=OS

    x64 = Architecture

    8 = Internet Explorer Version

    13= Indicates office version-If it is installed.

  • Could you share how you solved this please? I have a similar scenario.

  • Here's what I did.

    I put this SetBranding.cmd script in the Scripts folder:

    @ECHO OFF
    REM This script expects a parameter to set the build number. e.g. "SetBranding.cmd 2.1.3"

    SET RegistryBase=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation
    SET BuildVersion=Acme, Inc. (Build %1)

    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V Logo /T Reg_SZ /D "%SYSTEMROOT%\syswow64\oobe\oemlogo.bmp" /F
    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V Manufacturer /T Reg_SZ /D "%BuildVersion%" /F
    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V SupportHours /T Reg_SZ /D "Weekdays 7 AM to 7 PM" /F
    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V SupportPhone /T Reg_SZ /D "(555) 555-5555" /F
    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V SupportURL /T Reg_SZ /D "http://yoursite" /F
    REG ADD %RegistryBase% /V "Build Image Version" /T Reg_SZ /D "%1" /F

    EXIT /B 0
    Then I created a new app in the deployment share called "Activate Branding Version 2.1.3". Install command is SetBranding.cmd 2.1.3 and the working directory is .\Scripts

    Change 2.1.3 with whatever number you want. Make a new app with different version numbers as needed.

    Check the version number by opening System Properties. If you want it to be a system variable instead, just find the right registry path to set
