Make redirected Favorites folder available offline for all users?

    Question

  • We have set up folder redirection for Documents, Desktop, Pictures and Favorites.

For desktop computers, we have added an additional policy to not enable offline folders and also disable the CSC service.

Users having offline files enabled on both their desktop PC and their laptop caused many sync conflict problems and wasted disk space due to GBs of cached offline on the C drive of the desktop.

However, now we want to enable offline files for only the Favorites since offline Favorites cache would very minimal disk space and having the favorites available offline during a file server outage is very useful.

What can we do to enable offline files on desktops for ONLY the Favorites folders and let the desktop, pictures and documents folders remain online only?

    >>>To achieve your goal, please try to configure the setting Administratively assigned offline files under the path below.

    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files

For more information about the setting, please refer to the article below.

    Administratively assigned offline files

And here is an article below about how to configure the setting for your reference.

Activate Offline Files via GPO and assign the User folder to always be available Offline

  • We only want one redirected folder to be available offline (Favorites), not all the redirected folders.

  • Hi,

The setting Administratively assigned offline files makes the specified files and folders available offline to users of the computer.
