Network share stopped working after updating MS Windows Server 2008 SP2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi fellow comunity,

here some details about software and hardware I have:
    - a simple IBM Server with Intel Xeon Dual Core processor und 4 GB RAM.
    - MS Windows Server 2008 SP2
    - machine is domain controller of a simple domain with two domain computers plus the domain controller itself.
    - Domain compatibility level is Windows Server 2008.
    - I use RDP to connect to the machines because they're deployed in other city.
    - The RDP ist the very standard one - not the own secure protocol from the Win2k8 Server.

    Symptoms:
    - Last week I got from Windows Update notifications for pending updates for my machines (I'll provide the exact bulletine numbers latter).
    - I did install them. The servers did they'r reboot normally and then seemed they also operate normally.
    - Yesterday I've got another notification for pending updates (again I'll provide the exact bulletine numbers latter).
    - I did install those too.
    - I do have one folder on my local machine which gets mapped per RDP as network share on the remote machines.
    - While logged in on the DC, I've tried to copy some files from my local machine.
    - The first access to the mapped network share is okay. It lists the contents and I can browse the folder.
    - I've select with the mouse some files and clicked "Copy".
    - The paste operation in a folder on the remote machine fails with the message:
"The share \\tsclient\exchnge is not accessible. You do not have permissions to use this network resource."
    - From that point any operation on the mapped share fails with the above message. The Windows Explorer window from which
I've started the copy operation stills point into that mapped share and I still can browse the folder and its contents. But no
copy, delete or move operation succeeds. Furthermore if I click away from the share and then I try to select it again, then
I get the above error and I'm not able anymore to browse the folder contents.
-It is obvoius to say, a week ago I was able to exchange files and data between local and remote machines.

And here is some additional information regarding this issue:
    - Through the RDP connection I attach a folder as network storage and my clipboard as co-operational clipboard.
    - That co-operational clipboard functions always - regardless of the network share error.
    - As long as I just browse the network storage (while I'm logged in onto the remote machine) it is all okay - I can see folders, files and can navigate
through them. I also can create & delete files and folders on the mapped storage (this is correction to my previous info while posting this question).
The error pops up when I try to copy/move files from or into that shared network storage. After the error pops up
the access to the storage is gone completely - no browse, no access at all.

    Please advise please...!

    The question:
    - Obviously it has something to do with the latest MS Windows Server 2008 SP2 updates. Can someone from the fellow community help me
to sort out this problem? I'd greatly appreciate any kind of help, even just pointing me to a possible solution direction...

For questions and more data I'm here and will answer to you as good as I can.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,

    S Bogus.
